House at the beach or cabin in the mountains? Why?

One of each! Why limit our possibilities and love for the great outdoors?

Organization & attention to detail; when driving a program of 10 disparate projects, it’s critical to get organized and establish a rhythm of getting enough details to head off issues/challenges before they become critical.

Why did you choose your career path?

Early in my career, I experienced the value of working cross-functionally to deliver solutions, not individual answers to individual problems. We must see the fully integrated business to have a significant impact. I discovered this was a strength of mine and quickly focused my efforts on project/program management with the goal of leading large transformation programs.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?

The best piece of advice I’ve ever received is “never wish your time away” which really means to live every day to the fullest and not focus too much on what is to come. Time goes by so quickly and I think it’s important to live in the now and enjoy every second of time we have in this world.

What was your first job?

My first job was a Marketing/Sales position for a small Marketing firm in Dunwoody. It was a lot of work and taught me so much about working with varying personalities and demographics.

House at the beach or cabin in the mountains? Why?

Neither, sailboat!  We just got back from the British Virgin Islands where we bare boated (we were the crew) a catamaran with three other couples, and nothing beats bringing your ‘house’ with you on an adventure!  Every time we consider buying a vacation house, we pass because it would mean the same vacation over and over again.

What do you wish you could go back and tell your 16-year-old self?

Lottery numbers?  Worry less about the metrics, more about the relationships.  Live in the moment, enjoy the journey more than the destination, and don’t plan everything as it takes the joy out of discovery.

What do you love about your current job?

Work/life balance, owning the client relationship, and a great team that is behind me when I need it and that appreciates the work I do.

Why did you choose your career path?

After being a Structural Engineer, a restaurant server, an IT business analyst, a Project Manager, and an Army Blackhawk pilot and soldier, I realized I needed a career path that was flexible and offered varying and new challenges until I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up.  That’s how I found consulting.

What’s your favorite quote?

Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Which of your personality traits make you a good fit for what you currently do?

I am a person who loves to plan and “do things right the first time.” As a PM/BA, these skills are critical. I have to keep a high-level view in order to plan and ensure that all components of the project are working as expected. What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten and why?

Advice in the form of a question from one of my old swim coaches. “Do you want to be a jack of all trades and a
master of none?” I was playing baseball, basketball, and swam at the time. I was ok at all three, but he saw my
potential as a swimmer. After getting cut from making my high school basketball team (basketball was my first

scholarship and was a two-time NCAA champion at Auburn.

Product Marketing Manager

Tim

What’s your favorite quote and why?

“If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” Ever since I’ve

meaningful questions, rather than be the best or my idea of what is best. In doing so, I’m
reminded to be more patient and not be afraid to ask for help when I need it.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten and why?

There is no problem too big that it can’t be solved by getting up, taking a walk, breathing a little bit deeper and getting a fresh look at it. I used to be very quick to react and think that the world was ending when I couldn’t solve a problem. A manager a few years ago pulled me from my cubicle and made me go on a walk with him and just talk out the problem and shared this with me. It’s stuck with me ever since and any time I’ve managed people, I’ve been sure to remind them that it’s a good thing to just take a walk and try again in a few minutes.

them at least five times and they’ve helped me get through even some of the
worst spots of my life.

Who’s the one person that had the greatest infuence on your life?

Please never tell him, but it is Professor Jones. We fought constantly. He would say things such as “Good is the enemy of great” and all of those phrases you never want to hear when you’re 19 and know everything. One day something he said really stuck with me and it was that I had the potential to either be a US Senator or a third shift pit boss at a terrible Mississippi casino. I laughed and realized that I’d much rather be the Senator, no disrespect to any third shift pit bosses out there in Mississippi though. We continued to meet and he continued to be a great motivator up to graduation.

Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever travelled?
