I resurrected Integrated Media Association, a small, dying non-profit. Their funding had dried up, the conference was dead and membership was non-existent. Lesson learned.”

Kaleb

How do you define “family”?

Anyone who knows the real you and loves and supports you anyway!

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

Egypt

What was your favorite class in school? Why?

That’s easy… History!  History class was equal parts geography lesson and historical events/figures and appealed to my sense of wanting to know about other people and places!

What was your first job?

My first real job was working in the engineering library in college.  I thought I’d be able to study the whole time but that was against the rules.  The director’s position was that patrons were clients and we needed to show that our primary concern was helping them.  Good first lesson for consulting!

I like to make lists which is a good baseline quality to have as a project/program manager!

What makes Candid a great company to work for?

We employ high-quality individuals who know that helping your client shine is job #1.  We have also created a culture that truly makes me feel a part of something outside of my client project or team.

House at the beach or cabin in the mountains? Why?

One of each! Why limit our possibilities and love for the great outdoors?

Which of your personality traits make you a good fit for what you currently do?

Organization & attention to detail; when driving a program of 10 disparate projects, it’s critical to get organized and establish a rhythm of getting enough details to head off issues/challenges before they become critical.

Why did you choose your career path?

Early in my career, I experienced the value of working cross-functionally to deliver solutions, not individual answers to individual problems. We must see the fully integrated business to have a significant impact. I discovered this was a strength of mine and quickly focused my efforts on project/program management with the goal of leading large transformation programs.

Senior Talent Consultant

Sarah

Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?

The best piece of advice I’ve ever received is “never wish your time away” which really means to live every day to the fullest and not focus too much on what is to come. Time goes by so quickly and I think it’s important to live in the now and enjoy every second of time we have in this world.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I love to do anything outdoors and stay active. Hiking, swimming, camping, etc. I also really enjoy taking advantage of the flourishing music scene in Atlanta. There are so many fun events to take advantage of all year round!

What was your first job?

My first job was a Marketing/Sales position for a small Marketing firm in Dunwoody. I used to travel all over Atlanta and sometimes to other cities like Chicago and Las Vegas and run trade shows to market their products. It was a lot of work and taught me so much about working with varying personalities and demographics.

What skills do you use most often in your job?

I’m often told that I am very articulate and do a great job of explaining very complicated or complex things in an easy to understand way. I think this is the skill I use most often in my position. The opportunity to work with smart people on engaging initiatives; it helps me continue to improve and grow.

Steve

Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?

What do you like to do in your free time?

Run and swim.  I used to say I did wood working, but then I had kids…maybe someday I can get back to that.

House at the beach or cabin in the mountains? Why?

I love both but I’d say the mountains.   Depends a lot on the time of year though….the beach in winter is preferable to the mountains then – I don’t like cold weather.

To walk El Camino de Santiago in Spain with my brother.  On a related note, The Way is probably one of my favorite all time movies.

If you could choose an alternate career, what would it be and why?

A children’s librarian.  Some of my biggest heroes after my parents were the librarians from my local public library and school.  I love children’s literature like Wind in the Willows or anything by Shel Silverstein, and to me one of the best things in the world is being able to read aloud or share that with other kids.

Carpentry. For a few reasons… I love working with my hands, creating tangible results from something that starts as just an idea, and the balance between art and science.

What do you love about your current job?

Having the opportunity to develop both hard and soft skills, as well as being able to have real influence for my client by the work I do.

Chief Architect

Aaron

What’s your favorite quote?

Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

What do you wish you could go back and tell your 16-year-old self?

Family is comprised of the people who you love the most in this world. The people who you will do anything for. The people who are an extension of you. Life isn’t life without family.

Which of your personality traits make you a good fit for what you currently do?

I am a person who loves to plan and “do things right the first time.” As a PM/BA, these skills are critical. I have to keep a high-level view in order to plan and ensure that all components of the project are working as expected. I also have to sometimes dig into the details, in order to ensure that the work is getting done correctly. “Keeping it between the ditches” is critical for a PM, and I think I’m well-suited for the roll

this quote because it basically says don’t let your age determine your limitations

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten and why?

Advice in the form of a question from one of my old swim coaches. “Do you want to be a jack of all trades and a
master of none?” I was playing baseball, basketball, and swam at the time. I was ok at all three, but he saw my
potential as a swimmer. After getting cut from making my high school basketball team (basketball was my first

scholarship and was a two-time NCAA champion at Auburn.

this is key!

Why did you choose your career path?

It chose me! I started in the financial business right out of school. Not the best
time to be in that space as this was shortly after September 11th. I started looking
for other opportunities and I came across a position as a recruiter. 15 years later,
still going strong! I love recruiting because I get to help people!

Other interesting fact about you:

I collect Pez dispensers. I think I have around 250 now. I am also a nut for movie quotes! Specifically 80’s movies!

Product Marketing Manager

Tim

What’s your favorite quote and why?

“If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” Ever since I’ve
taken this on, I’ve always tried to become the person who can contribute and ask
meaningful questions, rather than be the best or my idea of what is best. In doing so, I’m
reminded to be more patient and not be afraid to ask for help when I need it.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten and why?

There is no problem too big that it can’t be solved by getting up, taking a walk, breathing a little bit deeper and getting a fresh look at it. I used to be very quick to react and think that the world was ending when I couldn’t solve a problem. A manager a few years ago pulled me from my cubicle and made me go on a walk with him and just talk out the problem and shared this with me. It’s stuck with me ever since and any time I’ve managed people, I’ve been sure to remind them that it’s a good thing to just take a walk and try again in a few minutes.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to spend time with my wonderful partner, Jilian, and our dog, Kodak. I’m
also a day one founding member of Atlanta United and love singing at the top of

them at least five times and they’ve helped me get through even some of the
worst spots of my life.

Who’s the one person that had the greatest infuence on your life?

Please never tell him, but it is Professor Jones. We fought constantly. He would say things such as “Good is the enemy of great” and all of those phrases you never want to hear when you’re 19 and know everything. One day something he said really stuck with me and it was that I had the potential to either be a US Senator or a third shift pit boss at a terrible Mississippi casino. I laughed and realized that I’d much rather be the Senator, no disrespect to any third shift pit bosses out there in Mississippi though. We continued to meet and he continued to be a great motivator up to graduation.

Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever travelled?

I went to Brazil on a study abroad in school and we got to see the real side of Brazil, not just the TV side of it. Interacting with children and helping them to see that through education they can get out of their bad neighborhoods and do something meaningful for their families was amazing.

What was your first job?

I washed dishes at a local pizza restaurant in my hometown. My fingers are still pruney.

What project are you most proud of?

When I first started at my last company, I was part of a team brought in to completely shape the future of that department. It’s now completely self-sufficient, but I couldn’t have gotten there without the hard work and dedication of my colleagues.

Why did you choose to work at Candid?

The people I’ve met so far have been remarkable. It’s such a positive, collaborative work space and seeing people laugh while knowing that at the same time they’re solving real problems made me take the leap.

What personality trait makes you a good fit for what you currently do?

My attention to detail.
Self Descipline

Why did you choose your career path?

I started in journalism, then that market crashed. I moved into sales. I felt uninspired selling things I didn’t necessarily believe in, so decided to move to marketing to help other people know that what they are selling is something that they can believe in.

I love to paint and discover new music in my free time. I mostly work with acrylics
and paint predominantly landscapes. Once I start, time flies by. Before I know it, I
had just spent the entire day painting!

Who’s the one person that had the greatest influence on your life?

My mom.

Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever travelled?

I love, love, LOVE Cape Town, South Africa. I studied abroad there two summers ago and fell in love with the city. Being able to see the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. It was an absolutely breath taking place to be. Hiking Table Mountain, seeing wild African Penguins, going on a safari, zip lining through one of Africa’s nature reserves, and so much more. It was an adventure of a life time.

What’s your favorite quote and why?

“We are all just fragmented energy from the same source.” I’m fascinated with space, the universe and humanity’s role within it.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten and why?

“Do what you love – not what you’re told to love.” Spending time (especially a considerable amount of time) doing what you love takes work – hard work, and the truth is, most people give up. They get a job to pay the bills and do what they love “on the side.” I’m fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do what I love every day with the most intelligent and hardworking group of people I’ve ever met.

What do you like to do in your free time?

The most calming moments in my life are the ones in which I’m surrounded by nature. I enjoy sitting on large rocks in the middle of rivers, hiking up mountains, riding bikes in the evenings and watching the sunset reveal a palette of stars. I like to read and write about my observations of reality. The little things make my time on earth worth every minute.

What’s your favorite book/movie and why?

Margaret Atwood — “Oryx and Crake”. I am a massive fan of dystopian novels.

Who’s the one person that had the greatest influence on your life?

My father, Scott Ingalls. He is a wealth of information, understanding and love.

Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever travelled?

Munich, Germany… but to be fair I’ve loved all my travels abroad. Having the opportunity to expose myself to other cultures brings the most beautiful moments for me.

“Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it they will want to come back and see you do it again and they will want to bring others and show them how well you do what you do.” – Walt Disney

Many years ago I decided to incorporate my own consulting business and deliver both desktop and cloud applications with some friends as partners in the company. Looking back it’s not the technologies or designs that are relevant, because in this industry those change every few years, but delivering the solutions on time, having happy customers, and developing the ability to see things not only from a technical perspective but a business perspective as well, was extremely valuable to learn early on in my career.
